A majority of the Supreme Court -- including the "justice" whose wife actively participated in the 2020 insurrection -- rewrote the 14th Amendment. They removed essentially all penalties for federal office holders who participate in attempts to overthrow elections.

Banana Republicans are consistently winning, and they see the finish line in November.

Federal government appealing court decision calling use of Emergencies Act on convoy protests unreasonable

The federal government has filed an appeal to contest a federal court's decision that said the use of the Emergencies Act in early 2022 to clear convoy protesters from downtown Ottawa was unreasonable and infringed on Charter rights.

At least someone in the Canadian government is paying attention. Also, we should be flooding Rob Oliphant's office with emails and letters of support, he's likely going to experience backlash over being so frank.

"The Liberal MP said on the call that his role as parliamentary secretary means he is "not able to be as public as some of my colleagues are.

"I've come many times thinking, 'Do I quit that job? Do I just go back to being an MP?'"

He said a staffer persuaded him to stay on "because there needs to be a voice on the inside, not just on the outside."

But Oliphant also warned on the call that the government's approach to the conflict, and that of its western allies, will have dangerous consequences.

"My fear is that the Global South will absolutely rebel and raise arms, maybe literally, because we have not listened," he said."

Western journalist may not know this, but became HUGE in Taiwan during the Taiwanese elections and it’s the perfect example of how Threads managed to capture entire markets that Twitter failed to attract.

And today, my Threads timeline is full of Taiwanese threatening to switch to platforms where they can freely talk politics (they are currently looking at Taiwanese platforms like Miin and Plurk. I hope they take a look at the rest of the Fediverse as well).
