Is there a prize for the worst user interface to decline website tracking cookies?

I have a contender: Bain Capital Insurance (private equity investors in US for-profit healthcare plans)

When you access the website (www.baincapitalinsurance[.]com) you see four toggle buttons, all toggled to the RIGHT - one shaded (Necessary) and three in bright blue (Functional, Analytics, Performance). So far, so good.

BUT, if you don't toggle those buttons off right away and instead scroll down the page as I did, the three buttons that were bright blue transform into gray buttons with tiny blue drop shadows, all toggled to the LEFT. They are all still toggled on.

Inattentive visitors to this website may assume they have toggled off the tracking since they are now all gray and the toggles moved from right to left.

If you click on the now-gray buttons, the toggles don't move. Instead, the drop shadows disappear.

This is deceptive and should be illegal in the US. I am not surprised that a predatory private equity firm profiting from a portfolio of predatory Affordable Care Act for-profit insurance providers would employ such a scheme. It is despicable in every aspect.

I'm not sure what liberals mean when they scold people on the left for "purity politics."

Dem politics is essentially a punch bowl full of stagnant water with turds floating around. I would like Dems to at least remove the turds. We can deal with the stagnant water later on.

But liberals swear that asking for no turds in the political punch bowl is asking for purity.

It's cool. You're just letting us know you've acclimated to raw sewage in your politics.

That's why we'll never get along.

It is tempting, when you look back at the raucous, joyous scenes from last week’s Republican National Convention, to assume that Donald Trump is stronger than ever.
This is not the case.

The last insane, chaotic, stupid month in American politics has obscured a simple, basic truth:
Trump is a deeply unpopular,
eminently beatable politician.

He is a man that most Americans do not like and do not want to vote for.
And he is just as unpopular now as he was six months ago,
or four years ago,
or eight years ago.
If you run a reasonably competent person against him without significant flaws, you have a more than reasonable chance of winning.

The next three months in American politics will undoubtedly be chaotic, and probably very aggravating.
But Democrats are now in a significantly better position than they were on Sunday morning.

They can run an energetic, positive campaign that highlights the numerous threats that Trump poses to the country.
They can do this with Harris,
who will be a perfect contrast to Trump, and an eminently qualified vice presidential nominee.

For most of the last year, Democrats could not adequately prosecute the case against Trump because their leader and presumptive nominee was simply not capable of it.
Four years ago, Biden could shut down Trump
—by literally telling him to “shut up.”
That Biden is gone, and his own deterioration made it difficult, or impossible, to draw a sharp contrast.
Trump is also old and deranged
—but Biden was not the messenger for that argument, as he was showing more signs of aging than his opponent.
What doesn’t get said enough
—and here I agree with Team Biden’s whining about the press coverage
—is that Trump and Biden are weak in some of the same ways.
Trump is also really old!
He also struggles to speak coherently and isn’t great on stairs!
Against any other candidate, Trump’s diminishing abilities will be clear.
His unpopularity is overwhelming.
He wouldn’t stand a chance.

Did you know that you can directly oppose the Heritage Foundation? As a 501c3 corporation, the Heritage Foundation is not allowed to participate in politics, let alone publish political manifestos. You can download Project 2025 pdf from the website and attach it to IRS Form 13909 and challenge their tax exempt status.
Here's their EIN # 23-7327730
