“Oxfam identified 23 superyachts owned by 18 billionaires and estimates the average annual carbon footprint of each of these yachts to be 5,672 tonnes, which is more than three times the emissions of the ’ private jets... This is equivalent to 860 years of emissions for the average person in the world, and 5,600 times the average of someone in the global poorest 50%.”

“The War on Bikes (in Toronto)” straphanger.blog/the-war-on-bi

“… let's address the very basic absurdity of the fact, unimaginable from a European perspective, that the affairs of a major metropolitan area could be dictated by a provincial authority”

This… THIS!

It’s refreshing I’m not singing from this songbook on my own.

During Canadian Federal Elections, poll workers have been known to direct husbands and wives to booths at opposing ends of the room, so as ensure spouses are not ‘monitored’ by each other. I have worked one once and was told by the husband “I just want to make sure she doesn’t make a mistake.” I told him that she was probably old enough to manage to make an ‘X’ on her own. She looked down as she smiled. He wandered off grumbling. I didn’t care how he reacted.
