I haven't told anyone about this yet, so let's go: Last fall, attorney's working for a certain social media company we will call "Schmeta" reached out to me asking for help with a copyright suit specifically because I was an academic who is also an 'expert' with Blender. 🧵

I don't want a list of ultra-rich people who have lost houses in wildfires. I don't care: they'll be fine.
I care about the people who won't be able to recover.
A devastating HandsomeWare attack.
My employer's email inviting all employees to practice mindfulness and do yoga reminded me of this classic:
Copernicus: 2024 is the first year to exceed 1.5°C above pre-industrial level
"2024 was the warmest year in global temperature records going back to 1850.
The global average temperature was 15.10°C. This is equivalent to 1.60°C above an estimate of the 1850-1900 temperature designated to be the pre-industrial level."
Sea surface temperature also at record high.

Why are things expensive:
4 companies control 55-85% of the meat market.
4 airlines control 70-80% of air travel.
3 companies control 80% of the soda market.
3 companies control 73% of the cereal market.
Why don't we hear about it?
Because 5 companies control 83% of the news.
Really think that it’s time we stop treating Facebook employees like human beings. Being “in an uproar” while you keep cashing those checks is bullshit. “I just work on React!” doesn’t cut it. You help make the world terrible; and worse you have power you won’t use to stop it.
The source of this angst comes down to anxiety over the cost of a college education.
Sports are the lottery ticket to not relying on soul-crushing debt to finance an #education.
The grief over the American Dream is manifesting as grievance.
