How does a query to GPT-4 compare to driving a car?

A single query to GPT-4 with a 10,000-word answer size produces 450 gCO2e (*). An average UK car produces 132 gCO2e/km. So this query is equivalent to driving a car 3.4 km.

(*) wimvanderbauwhede.codeberg.pag and assuming 100 words for the queries in that article; in reality it is probably closer to 30 words, but I prefer to be conservative.

No new rules like precluding a traitor without his security clearance being able to run for PM...just like a felon rapist traitor can be President.

So fucked. Fascism is laps ahead of our corrupted democracies.

Having a USB-C charging standard is great. Until you get chargers like this one with USB-C connector and 9V. Using that would be a great way to kill some devices. Apparently, GTMEDIA just replaced the original DC port with USB-C without other changes to the device and the charger

I'm sure there's an untapped market for "Dumb" tech. Bonus points for repairable, dumb tech.

No AI assistants, no Internet connection, no DRM or login needed.

Just a toaster that makes toast, a TV that plays only what you put in it, with repair kits, spare parts available, easy to reach guts and accessible schematics, diagrams and instructions.

I know I'd buy no other brands if just one offered that to me.

Health officials downplayed COVID risk by overemphasizing "underlying health conditions," leading many to drop their guard prematurely.

Most people have "underlying health conditions." Anyone can be vulnerable. Everyone should take precautions.

It's malpractice that they are minimizing bird flu the same way.

Oh boy.

First Human Death from Reported in Louisiana

Yes, they're quick to comfort you with the fact that the deceased was old & sick... Oh sorry, "over 65 & had underlying medical issues"

*FLASHBACK*

Remember when they emphasized that about so they sent kids back to school & that continues to keep Covid going strong & how *surprise* a lot of college kids now have ? Yeah? Ok good. Keep remembering as this potentially becomes a pandemic.
